From Our Executive Director

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Welcome to the website of the Ecumenical Lay Council (ELC) of Northport- East Northport, also known as the ELC Food Pantry.  With this new website, we aim to enhance transparency, foster community connections, and strengthen our efforts to continue to fight hunger on Long Island.  We are committed to providing healthy nutritious food to our neighbors in need.

Since 1974, the ELC has focused on the changing needs of the neighbors we serve – their strength and resilience as they face economic challenges, unemployment, or any kind of hardship that has left them without food and beyond.

At the ELC Food Pantry, we witness the generosity of the surrounding Huntington communities (Northport-East Northport, Centerport, Fort Salonga, Greenlawn, Huntington Station) and of those who volunteer without recognition because they find joy in serving.

We are blessed by the kindness of donors who give because they too share in the joy and spirit of supporting one another in serving the community.

The ELC is a member agency with Long Island Cares Inc. (The Harry Chapin Regional Food Bank).  They have further enabled the ELC to provide nutritious and balanced foods at reduced costs, provide equipment and capacity expansion as needed, food safety and nutritional education and Agency Support Team.

In the following web pages, you will find comprehensive information about the ELC initiatives, how you can get involved, and the impact we are making together.

I extend my deepest gratitude to the ELC members and dedicated volunteers whose selfless efforts and tireless dedication are the strengths of this ministry. Your generosity and compassion make a substantial difference in the lives of so many.

Thank you for visiting our new website. Your support is essential in helping us achieve our mission.

Blessings,
